Maintaining Your Handicap
All scores both home and away must be posted and players are responsible for posting their own scores. The Handicap Chair will keep all score cards for the weekly games, verify postings, and if required, correct and notify the player of any corrections. She will also keep the official list of player handicaps, as provided by the USGA Admin portal. The maximum course handicap for all TLGL events is 36.
For posting follow the Net Double Bogey procedure (see below).
For posting follow the Net Double Bogey procedure (see below).
Weekly Play Scoring
We utilize Net Double Bogey as the maximum score for weekly play as permitted by USGA Rule 21.2 with the exception of certain games (e.g. Club Championship Eclectic, Member-Member and Member-Guest) in which case actual strokes are entered on the scorecard for the game.
Net Double Bogey Procedure
This procedure sets the maximum score a player can post on any hole, and is based on the player’s Course Handicap. It is important to note a Course Handicap is not necessarily the same as a player Handicap Index. The AGA handicap app has a Course Handicap Calculator that will allow players to easily determine their Course Handicap.
· Net Double Bogey = two-over par plus any handicap strokes received ("pops") on the hole
· Pops are allocated to specific holes according to the handicap rating of the hole being played.
Example 1:
- This player has a course handicap of 12
- She receives 1 handicap stroke ("pop") on the 12 most difficult holes
- Net double bogey on those 12 holes would be two-over par plus one
- Net double bogey for the easiest 6 holes would be two-over par
Example 2:
- This player has a course handicap of 25
- She would receive 2 handicap strokes ("pops") on the 7 most difficult holes (25 -18 = 7)
- She receives 1 handicap stroke on the remaining easiest 11 holes.
- Net double bogey on the "two pop" 7 holes would be two-over par plus two
- Net double bogey for the ("one pop") easiest 11 holes would be two-over par plus one
